GETTING TO LUANG PRABANG
By Air
There are no international direct flights from Europe or the USA to
Laos. So the best way to get there is by air via Bangkok or Hanoi. From
Bangkok or Hanoi you can fly daily during the main season directly to
Luang Prabang. Lao Airlines and Vietnam Airline offer daily flights
from and to Siem Reap and the capital of Vientiane. Lao Aviation offer
in addition daily flights from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang during the
main season.

By Boat:
One of the most interesting ways to reach Luang Prabang
is by boat on the Mekong River. You take your flight to Chiang Rai in
the North of Thailand. From there it is about a 2 hours drive to Chiang
Khong the border city on the Mekong between Thailand and Laos. From
here you cross by boat to
Houey Xai the Lao border point. From there you can find different types
of boats from slow standard boats, to speed boats and quite comfortable
tourist boats. There are other possiblities on the waterways from Luang
Namtha province to Luang Prabang.
By Road
There are many opportunities to travel to Laos by road.
First you can enter from Nong Khai in Thailand via the Friendship
Bridge to Vientiane. There are open borders to China in the North at
the province of Luang Namtha crossing into the province of Yunnan in
China, to Myanmar (not yet opened) and soon to Vietnam (Dien Bien PHu).
In the south you can easy cross over to Vietnam at two different border
points, Thailand is an easy access and even Cambodia can be reched by
road and river in the very south of Laos near the Khong Islands.
GETTING TO THE LAO SPIRIT RESORT
There are two different roads to reach the resort.
1. Luang Prabang direction to the airport.
On the way to the airport you turn to the right where you see the
advertisement signs of All Lao and Tigertrail there you have to turn
right to the dirt road towards Ban Phanom. Continue on this road for
appr. 12 km keep always right. On the half way you will pass the
village of Ban Nounsavat. On the next crossing keep right then you will
see on the left hand side the Lao Spirit sign. Here you have to turn to
the left and follow our private road for appr. 1,5 km to reach the
resort.
2. Luang Prabang direction to Vientiane,
you leave Luang Prabang on National road Nr. 13 the main road to
Vientiane. Continue for about 12 km until you reach the village of Ban
Kokngiou. In the center of the village you have to turn left to a small
dirt road a little bit uphill. Please follow this road for about 4 km
(keep right), then you will see the Lao Spirit sign on the right side.
Please turn to the right at the sign and follow our private road for
about 1,5 km to reach the resort.
From Vientiane or Vang Vieng.
Appr. 12 km before reaching Luang Prabang you will reach the village of
Ban Kokngiou. In the center of the village a small dirt road will turn
to the right slightly up a hill. Continue this road for appr. 4 km then
you will see the Lao Spirit sign on the right side. Please turn to the
right at the sign and follow our private road for about 1,5 km to reach
the resort.

the town or from the airport. We willpick you up by our minibus if
available or organice a transfer car in town.
